I am sure you have been reading about my love for Last Bottle Wines, but one thing that it has reignited my hope of starting a small wine cellar. We have shipped a few bottles here and there from wine travels (mostly Italy & Napa) but recently we have been buying wine that will last and/or get better through the years. So yes, while we may drink one bottle now, the goal is to put a couple away to enjoy years & special occasions from now.
We ordered and put together this wine rack from amazon. It was incredibly easy, took less than 10 minutes. The only other item you need is some wood glue to put a dab on the pegs so that it is solid. There are many wine racks to choose from but we chose this one for the following reasons:
- holds good amount of bottles (72) while being affordable
- Shipped free (thank you amazon prime)
- Fits the space
- Note: the rack is an unfinished wood, which is fine for our basement (basically only we are seeing it)
- You could stain or finish it if you’d like
New Englanders put up with a lot in the weather department. But one great thing about living in New England – our basements are PERFECT for a wine cellar. Dark, cool year round & a little humidity. Perfect conditions!
Not all bottles on this rack are high end. I also took the opportunity to organize our living room wet bar as there has been lots of over crowding from all our quarantine wine purchases. TRUTH!
FYI: each slot fits the standard sized bottle. I had to put our large format or funky wide sized bottles on the top row.
